Music

Why do we sing?

I waited patiently for the Lord to help me, and He turned to me and heard my cry. He lifted me out of the pit of despair, out of the mud and the mire. He set my feet on solid ground and steadied me as I walked along. He has given me a new song to sing, a hymn of praise to our God. Many will see what He has done and be amazed. They will put their trust in the Lord. - Psalm 40:1-3

Who are we?

Carrubbers is a growing and diverse city centre church in Edinburgh committed to seeing lives transformed by the good news of Jesus. Music is an intrinsic part of our church and is a powerful way in which we can encourage each other and creatively share the gospel with those who have not heard. Everything we do comes as a response to what Jesus has done for us, never to earn his favour or to ‘look good’ in front of others, but out of a heart of gratitude that’s been bathed in God’s grace.

Being on the music team isn’t about “just doing a job” or “filling a gap” on a Sunday morning, it’s about recognising and acknowledging that God has called us to use our giftings to serve each other and we, therefore, wholeheartedly give it our all, to the best of our ability, all the while knowing that God has total control.

First and foremost, we are a community of believers, people who have been saved by grace and placed together to build the church and reach the world around us. We are children of God first and musicians second. To encourage and get to know each other, we will hold monthly nights of fellowship for the entire worship ministry to grow encourage each other and have fun together.
