Acts 1:8
“But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you; and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
These words spoken by Jesus 2000 years ago were the spark that began a movement across the world and throughout history that changed our world. The same promise, command and power is available to us today, and so Act1v8 is a focus for our church to continue taking the gospel message to our Jerusalem [Edinburgh], Judea and Samaria [Scotland and the UK] and to the ends of the earth. See below for how you can be part of it!

Below are the teams that are currently planned. Edinuburgh and local opportunities also exist, but for now this webpage presents those further afield that require advanced planning. Local teams will be added here in due course.
To find out more information, to just register interest or commit and sign up for a team, contact the team leader. Where a team leader isn't in place yet, then a point of contact has been established who you can contact. You'll need to sign-in to reveal the contact information for the team leader or point of contact - if you don't have a sign-in for the website, then you can email Missions@Leaders.carrubbers.org to find out more about any team or speak to these people in person.
We want these opportunities to be available to all the congregation and it is anticipated that individuals and teams will fundraise to help cover the costs. Even with this, if cost is a potential barrier to you joining a team, please speak to the team leader as there are some funds available to help.
We are delighted once again to send a team to Latvia to help run a football day camp in Liepaja, Latvia. The camp runs Monday-Friday from during the day. There are opportunities to do some coaching, leading activities and sharing testimonies. Some experience in playing/coaching football is very helpful, but any enthusiasm for sports ministry is welcomed. There will be opportunities in the evenings to connect with members of Centre Church in Liepaja - who will be supporting the camp - and to play football with some local teams. As of 18th January 2025, we have 5 spaces left. We would welcome some female leaders too to encourage the girls who attend camp.

The team will help run a youth summer music camp called Fusion, partnering with one of our missionary families, Dave and Ieva Kingdom, and their missions organisation Josiah Venture. It will involve teaching the youth to play musical instruments and sing in a choir, alongside building relationships with them and teaching them about the hope and good news of the gospel. The majority of team members should be skilled in a musical instrument or singing but there is some space for non musical folks too. As well as teaching campers music, there is plenty of time to build relationships with the Latvian youth and teach and disciple them in God's word.

Work will include serving during the conference and can include attending sessions too. Service opportunities include providing children's provision during the conference, practical aspects such as cleaning and helping in the catering for conference attendees. There will also be a chance to get a taster of the teaching sessions at the college on a weekday either side of the conference and spend time with the Moore & Scheleen families, learning about the role the college plays in preparing the next generation of church leaders and missionaries.

Partnering with out long term gospel partners from Golgotha Mission, a team will support the running of a youth camp for 18-25 year olds. The camp is in the beautiful setting of the foothills of the Transylvanian Alps. The team will focus on interacting with campers, building relationships, leading small group discussions after daily teaching and possible opportunity to also assist in the teaching. All this as well as throwing themselves into all aspects of camp life - football, volleyball, late nigh bonfires and local hikes are all regular features of this annual camp. I am hoping to plan a CCC Act1v8 team to go and visit Sarah and Bjorn-Richard in Romania in November this year. Sarah and Bjørn-Richard work with Restore ministries in a Roma community outside Sighișoara in Central Romania. Their goal is to “Restore hope for a future.” The team will have opportunities to serve teenage mothers, children, youth and help practically in the Education Centre whilst also having time in the Roma community for home visits. All ages are welcome. Restore’s teams to date have ranged from 4 months to 87 years. If you have interest in serving an impoverished people group with a great need to hear and experience the love of God, you would be so welcome to join.
